I was recently reading an article that compares fertility rates of both uterine fibroid embolizations and myomectomies. It was found that while the rate for UFEs are slightly higher (58.1%), it is however, quite comparable to that of myomectomies (57%). This study provides hope for those women looking to get pregnant but have had doubts about their ability to do so. Dr. Pisco is quoted, “ ‘Our study proves that UFE not only allows women who were unable to conceive to become pregnant but also allows them to have normal pregnancies with similar complication rates as the general population in spite of being a high risk group.’” This seems to have opened the door for many more women looking to start families.
